Given the windy and wet weather that had preceded it, the concert at Broadstairs took place in ideal conditions. With the Sun high in the sky, the audience was able to relax in the warmth and enjoy the band’s performance. As usual, the programme was varied and wide ranging in both style and age of music.
Unusually, the band was accompanied by the sight of the Battle of Britain Flight making several passes over the area as a part of the local Air Show. A bit of quick thinking on Keith’s part after the first pass saw the band ready to play ‘Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines’ as they came around for a second pass!
The concert also featured two of our younger members playing solos – Myles Radcliffe on trombone and Bex Ransom on cornet as well as old hand Ian Lanceley wandering through the audience whilst playing ‘Sugar Blues’.
